Abstract

Introduction: The mining industry has adapted to new challenges such as environmental pressures and the shortage of skilled workers, driving the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies. These innovations are shaping the future of mining, integrating new technological solutions to address global market demands and environmental issues.

Objective: This study aims to analyze how Mining 4.0, through the application of emerging technologies and automation, is transforming the mineral industry. The aim is to understand the impact of these innovations on process improvement, efficiency and safety, in addition to exploring challenges and opportunities brought about by these technological changes.

Methods: This research was based on secondary data on technological innovations and automation in mining. The focus was on the benefits, challenges and impacts of these transformations, including sustainability and changes in the sector.

Results: Mining 4.0 leverages automation, artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, increasing efficiency, safety and sustainability. Despite the challenges, leading companies are adopting innovative technologies, promoting a more productive and digitalized sector.

Conclusion: Revolutionary technologies applied to the sector not only boost operational efficiency, but also generate significant benefits for the economy, society and the environment. Gains in productivity, safety and mitigation of environmental impacts justify the growing adoption of these technologies and drive the advancement of Mining 4.0.
