Play "Darcy Ribeiro's Letters: When the historian conceives, writes, undertakes, produces, and realizes their own project in public history

This article is an account of the conception, production, and realization of the theatrical performance "Darcy Ribeiro's Letters" by the public history project "Poeira da História," between January and July 2023. The purpose of the text is to demonstrate how a historian can produce their own projects while dealing with the need for non-academic funding, coordinating an interdisciplinary team of artists, technicians, researchers, and producers. Where to start, how to select the team, find the necessary balance for the proposal to be successfully executed, and delegate tasks. The historian who conceived the project, which will be described, works professionally as an actor, writer, and screenwriter, which allowed for the production direction to be led by someone with experience in the field of history, as well as in the performing arts.
