Abstract

This article seeks to present the importance of solidarity for belonging and, consequently, the strengthening of education with reference to the school in a rural community in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. This intention arises from the ethnographic research in a community in the rural area of the city in question – Escola Municipal Eleodoro Ébano Pereira. The school was built by families from the Lote Grande neighborhood, in 1968, when at the time there were no schools close to the rural properties. Currently, the neighborhood is gaining more and more subdivisions, however there are many families who live from agriculture and livestock on small properties. The methodology adopted in this article is the bibliographical research and analysis of the interviews carried out during an ethnographic research in the school and its community. What was identified in this research is that the community, with its solidarity, strengthens the school and its subjects, showing how much the sociability of rural subjects contributes to education.
