Abstract

This paper discusses, in the light of the Critical Racial Theory (Ladson-Billings, 1998), how urban spaces have become arenas in which the tensions of social relations have been evidenced, mainly through the silencing and attempts to eradicate the presence and the social actions of black subjects in society. My main argument is in favor of an educational approach that explains racial tensions within society in the face of these disputes over urban spaces while informing society and contributing to fight against all forms of aesthetic racism. Providing, therefore, a reflection that is aligned with an anti-racist educational project and that embraces the diversity expressed through the multiple identities and aesthetics of the social actors.
