Abstract

This essay is inspired by the song Joana Francesa, by Chico Buarque de Holanda, which was interpreted, among others, by the composer and actress Jeanne Moreau when he acted in the film of the same name by director Cacá Diegues, from 1973. Joana Francesa explores the similarity of sonority between Portuguese and French words, even though they have very different meanings. The images have a dreamlike atmosphere, with the photos of the models merging with photos of the French capital, on which graphic applications of excerpts from the lyrics were made.
