Abstract

The quest to understand the concept of desire for the humanities sciences, through philosophy and psychoanalysis, brings the possibility of making a distinction between the target objects of the human desires. Object of desire and objects of desire are different in their essence. The first refers to the subjective world and the second, to social and cultural context. Both of them are driven by the search for satisfaction and filling of the primary void. The design dialogues with these concepts, because through their basic assumptions, such as functionality and aesthetics, it stimulates the desire for objects that are specific to each age and each society. This paper is an invitation to reflect on the consumption of objects, suggesting that awareness can be an important differential in the pursuit of satisfactions.
