Abstract

This visual essay revisits a small sample of iconographies based on African matrices, based on elements present and represented in communities in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. The uniform of a congadeiro, the flag of the Cidade Jardim Samba School, the print of the shirt of a young man on a bus, the oxé (Xangô ax) and the ofá (Oxóssi arch) are present here in minimalist and bring a study related to the various representations arising from our roots, matrices and origins.

Formado em Artes Plásticas (Licenciatura)
pela Universidade do Estado de Minas Gerais (UEMG) e mestrando no Programa de Pós- -Graduação em Artes (UEMG). Como artista participou de diversas exposições individuais e coletivas, tais como: “Boi de Piranha, Brazilian Zodiac” (2021); “É Hora da onça beber água” (Palácio das Artes, 2020-2021); “Onde a coruja dorme” (Galeria de Arte BDMG Cultural, 2019- 2020); na exposição “EmMeio” (Museu Nacional de Brasília, 2018); Festival Internacional de Fotografia (2017); “Copa do Mundo” (Sesc Palla- dium, 2014). É membro do grupo de pesquisa, desenvolvimento e inovação Laboratório de Poéticas Fronteiriças (CNPq).
