This article discusses the relationships of neomedievalism as a cultural phenomenon that revisits the Middle Ages in video games. It is a popular contemporary medium that often employs tropes and archetypes reminiscent of medieval culture, as seen in films, books, music, and games. Among various games, Dark Souls was chosen for analysis. Although relatively recent, it is considered a classic of the genre, recognized for the richness of its details, and by its difficulty. Exploring these unique characteristics of games as media can bring players into contact with important aspects of the history of the medieval Western world.
