ANALYSIS OF PRINTING SUPPLIES CONSUMPTION IN A CLOTHING INDUSTRY AND REDUCTION PROPOSAL THROUGH GREEN IT STRATEGIES

Abstract

Planet Earth has been suffering from numerous problems caused by humanity, mainly related to the exacerbated and unconscious use of natural resources. This makes society begin to think about alternatives for a more sustainable production, aiming at a balance between financial, social and ecological values. Following the wave of discussions and calls to action on sustainability, Green IT proposal emerges. The objective of the study was to determine the consumption of supplies for printing in the Reserva Natural industry, in order to propose the application of the concepts of Green IT in the company. This is a case study, through the survey of consumption data of supplies for printing and paper in the company Reserva Natural in the year 2020. It is found that the industry has the potential to considerably reduce the consumption of paper and supplies, reducing the costs of these raw materials and reducing the environmental impact caused by disposal after use. These changes, together with others, will help the company to adopt Green IT policies, becoming even more ecologically correct and responsible for sustainable production. Behavioral changes are very important so that resources are used and (re)used in the best way, thus promoting sustainable development.
