Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The Inova Jur Journal is a scientific periodic journal created by professors of Law from faculty courses in Ituiutaba, Frutal, Diamantina and Passos of Minas Gerais State University, with open access, double-blind peer review, ahead of print publication, and documental formalization by the end of the semester, designed to receive unpublished contributions on the topic of Technology, Information and Inovation, with correlation to Law.

 

Manuscripts submitted through the journal's website must be unpublished and observe the rules set out below.

 

The submission of scientific papers, book reviews and case law reviews imply the transfer of copyrights of digital and/or printed publication to Inova Jur Journal, authorizing that the submitted work, in case of acceptance, is published by the Inova Jur Journal and distributed free of charge, without any type of reimbursement and remuneration.

  1. General Rules for Submissions

1.1. The following formats will be accepted: i) Scientific Research Papers, from 15 to 25 pages length; ii) Case Law Reviews, from 5 to 10 pages length; iii) Book Reviews, from 4 to 6 pages length. The minimal number of pages required does not include the references section.

1.2. Scientific Papers, Book Reviews and Case Law Reviews may be presented in Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French, German or English.

1.3. The submissions must be sent in DOC format, with layout configured for A4 paper, top and left margins of 3 cm, and bottom and right margins of 2 cm.

1.4. The manuscript title must be sent in 2 languages (Portuguese and English suggested), in capital letters, bold, font Times New Roman, size 16, centralized.

1.5. Section and subsection titles must be presented in bold, only the first letter of the sentence in capitals, font Times New Roman, size 12, left-aligned.

1.6. The body of the text must follow the font Times New Roman, size 12, without spacing before and after paragraphs, justified and with spacing between lines of 1.5 cm.

1.7. The abstract must be presented in two languages (Portuguese and English suggested), as well as the direct citations, must have Times New Roman font, size 11, single line spacing (1.0), justified and with a 4 cm indent in the entire paragraph.

1.8. Submissions must not contain markings or automatic cross-references.

1.9. If the submitted papers use research with human beings, authorization from the Research Ethics Committee must be presented, pursuant to Resolution 196/96 and 510/16 of the National Health Council, attaching it in the "metadata" field proof of authorization and the Informed Consent Form.

1.10. Submissions with plagiarism will not be accepted, and the papers will be submitted to verification procedures and, in the event of an illegal practice, they will be immediately returned to the author by the editor.

1.11. Submissions with more than three authors will not be accepted.

1.12. Files must be anonymized prior to submission. For this, textual elements indicating authorship (e.g. names of authors, affiliations, citations of other works with indication of identical authorship, regards to colleagues, educational institutions and research funding institutions) and also the file metadata must be deleted.

1.13. While a proposal is in the process of review for publication, the same author may not give in a new submission, even with different material.

1.14. While the submission is being made, all the forms spaces must be filled in order to identify the authors after the blind review.

1.14.1 In the "Mini Curriculum" field, there should be a short academic biography of the authors, with the last three academic degrees, institutional affiliation and e-mail for contact.

1.15. In case of doubt about the structure and formatting of the texts, please check the template provided on the Journal's website.

 

  1. Scientific Research Papers

2.1. Paper must contain, in this order: title in English; title in Portuguese; abstract (from 100 to 250 words); keywords (from 03 to 05, separated by semicolons); abstract in Portuguese; keywords in Portuguese; introduction (with numbering, in bold and aligned to the left); discussion (with subdivision in chapters numbered, in bold and aligned to the left); final considerations (with numbering, in bold and aligned to the left); bibliographical references (unnumbered, in bold and left aligned)

2.2. The indication of citations must be made using the author-date system, following the presentation rules established by ABNT 10520/02. Example: (SOUZA NETO, 2015, p. 51).

2.2.1. Direct citations with more than 3 lines must use a 4 cm indentation from the left margin, font size 11 and single space, followed by the reference in the author-date system.

2.2.2. Quotations with up to 3 lines must appear in the body of the text, using double quotation marks and followed by the respective reference in the author-date system.

2.2.3. Any text omissions must be indicated with square brackets and periods - [...] - and not with parentheses - (...).

2.2.4. In indirect citations, although not mandatory, it is recommended, if possible, the indication of the page, as a way of giving greater reliability and precision to the scientific text.

2.3. The "Abstract" of the paper must briefly present the content of the manuscript, describe the investigated object, the purpose of the investigation, the problem addressed, the methodology and the conclusions, in accordance with ABNT 6028/2021.

2.3.1. Regarding the purpose, it is expected that research objectives to be described. About the methodology, one should not simply point to "bibliographic research", one must necessarily describe how the research was developed, identify the methods of approach, the methods of procedure and the types of research used (qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, exploratory, explanatory, etc.).

2.4. In the final considerations section, the solutions to the research problem, the argumentative closure of the fulfillment of the objectives and possible contribution to further studies must be presented. It is not recommended to make a simple summary of ideas or compilation of arguments developed in the body of the manuscript.

2.5. The "References" section must follow the ABNT 6023/18 standard (alphabetical order, single spaces, aligned to the left, full names, without abbreviation, and highlighted using bold).

2.6. If the papers contain illustrations, figures, drawings, graphs and/or tables, these elements must come in a detached file.

2.6.1. In the main file, the location of the visual element must be indicated, in bold and centered (e.g. Figure 1). However, a certain flexibility is recommended, indicating the possibility of positioning the visual elements at the end of the text, to facilitate the Journal's layout.

2.6.2. Images must be in PNG format, with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

2.6.3 Tables and graphs may be in DOC or XLS format.

2.6.4 No more than ten graphic or visual elements will be published per submitted paper.

2.6.5 In order to guarantee accessibility to the texts published by the Inova Jur Journal, the graphic and visual elements must be accompanied by a brief description preceded by the following indication "#foralltosee".

 

  1. Book reviews

3.1. The review must comply with the regulation of the ABNT 6028/2021 standard.

3.2 The review must have a title, in Portuguese and English, followed by the complete reference of the reviewed Book, in accordance with ABNT 6023/18.

3.3 The review must not contain abstract and keywords.

3.4 It is recommended a brief presentation by the author, the reviewed book and a critical analysis highlighting positive and negative points, always with politeness, respect and urbanity.

3.5 It is possible, if necessary, to include references in the review, following the same guidelines as used for the scientific paper (item 2.2).

3.6 Will be accepted reviews about books published in the last five years only.

 

  1. Case Law Reviews

4.1. Case Law reviews must follow the general guidelines as described before and comply with ABNT formatting norms.

4.2. As far as is compatible, the rules applicable to the scientific papers must also be followed for Case Law Review (item 2 and sub-items).

4.3. The Case Law review must contain: (i) Title (which presents the reviewed court decision); (ii) Introduction (contextualization and analysis of facts related to the Case Law); (iii) Case Law summary (with indentation in the middle of the page, to the right, justified, single space, letter 11); (iv) Introduction (contextualization and analysis of facts related to the analyzed Case Law); (v) discussion (with innovations, gaps and dichotomies analyzed from the Case Law); (vi) Final considerations; (vii) References.

Após a publicação, pede-se a espera da publicação de três números para que o autor possa submeter novamente, a fim de garantir pluralidade das publicações.
