Abstract

This article aims to show the social importance of itinerant museums, more precisely the PONTO UFMG ITINERANT MUSEUM, as a non-formal disseminator of scientific knowledge in socioeconomically underprivileged regions farther from urban centers. Through the exhibition of museum works and objects, recreational activities, with the participation of mediators prepared to listen to what the public has to say about technological and scientific development, the MUSEU PONTO UFMG seeks to awaken curiosity and interest in children and teenagers. It also seeks to ensure inclusive, egalitarian and quality education for citizens, offering everyone the same opportunities, regardless of their economic and social situation, since these objectives, in addition to being the focus of government education institutions, are also Sustainable Development Objectives designed by the United Nations (UN).
