Language plays a fundamental role in the construction of social, cultural, and educational relationships, being an essential element in the teaching and learning process. In this context, discussions about the interfaces between Linguistics and teaching have become increasingly relevant in light of the social and technological transformations that characterize contemporary society. The general objective of this study was to analyze the contributions of Linguistics to language teaching, considering aspects related to pedagogical practices, social uses of language, and new forms of communication present in today's society. The methodology adopted is characterized as qualitative research with a bibliographic approach and a descriptive-analytical nature, based on the analysis of academic works related to Linguistics, language teaching, and contemporary educational practices. The development of the study addressed topics such as the foundations of Linguistics, the relationship between linguistic forms and social uses of language, the importance of linguistic diversity in the school context, as well as the contributions of multiliteracies and digital technologies to teaching practices. The results indicate that the integration between linguistic knowledge and pedagogical practices contributes to the construction of more contextualized teaching methodologies, capable of promoting the development of reading, writing, and critical interpretation. It is concluded that language teaching, when grounded in contemporary linguistic perspectives, can favor the formation of individuals capable of understanding and using language in a critical, reflective, and socially meaningful way.
