The global health crisis, caused by Covid-19, has been catalysing changes in school practices in Mozambique. Schools are being closed and reopened, the time spent in the classroom is being reduced, following an unusual paradigm that has been justified by the need for more and more physical distance between the subjets of the teaching-learning process. The present article aims at analysing the influence of the current lesson duration on the quality of teaching performance at Chinhamapere Secondary School, in the district of Manica, province of the same name, in Mozambique. In terms of methodology, this is a qualitative research, in which 7 teachers participated, intentionally surveyed by semi-structured interview between April and June 2021. From the analysis of the data collected, it was concluded that the reduction in the duration of lessons has a negative influence on the quality of teaching performance and this leads to the low level of learning among pupils at Chinhamapere Secondary School.
